During launch of my book The Nondual Café, someone asked what satori was like. Does it come and go? Have a listen to my answer.
In short, satori is the clarity that comes from seeing how experience actually works—which is not how it seems. Once you see clearly that experience never splits the world into knower and known, you can no longer believe you’re a separate self.
Satori is seeing through the illusion of a world made up of separate things, creatures, events, and so on. The illusion still presents itself, but you can no longer believe it to be anything more than a mirage.
Your usual picture of the world is turned completely on its head. You see that all these appearances are merely fleeting appearances of something that comes before time, space, and separate things.
And that something is the simplest thing imaginable. It has been with you since the day you were born. It’s entirely available to you, yet ultimately impossible to put into words.
Just as you cannot explain what the color blue looks like to someone who has never seen it.
The Nondual Café is a philosophical adventure that invites you to discover this clarity for yourself. Through a fictional journey into the underworld, it explores why the familiar world of separate things, people, and events is not quite what it seems. And why seeing through that illusion can bring an end to the need for a separate spiritual practice.
